Carolyn Oldale AdamsCarolyn has always had an interest in the arts. She attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and has spent lifetime on projects that are as varied clothing and design, folk art, drawing, watercolour, acrylics and oil painting.

For many years while raising a family, her attention to painting was intermittent. Carolyn reintroduced herself to oil painting during the 80’s and 90’s. She spent many years painting full time with Norman Brown. He was a great inspiration and provided considerable encouragement to her. Workshops were taken from Zolten Zabo, Jean Geddes, Jack Reid, Mike Svob, David Veres and many others. The young impressionist and coloristic Dominik Modlinski has influenced her significantly.

Carolyn was a member of Western Canadian Artists called “the New 7 painters Society of Canada”. The group had several gallery showings in Alberta and BC. Her work was displayed at the beautiful Num-Ti-Jan Lodge at Bow Lake as an Artist in Resident and also organized Plein Air Camps for the Calgary Sketch Club there for several years. Carolyn has her work displayed and sold at the Calgary Stampede, Webster’s Galleries and other venues as well as published in the book “Bow Lake Wellspring of Art” by Jane Lytton Gooch. She is also a member and exhibitor at the Leighton Centre.

Carolyn has been a member of the Calgary Sketch Club since 2002. As a member she became an avid Plein Air painter which has fostered her impressionistic style. She has won several awards within the Sketch Club, including summer 2017 Plein Air Spring Camp award.
