I loved drawing as a child while growing up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and art class was always my favorite at high school. That love of art continued as I became an adult and moved to Calgary, Alberta as many different crafts and sewing projects became the art forms that were woven into my “free” time. After many years of raising two children and focusing on my career, I now have more energy for painting as my escape into art and I have been enjoying finding the pleasure that the creativeness of art brings to me.

I first began painting with watercolour and genuinely enjoyed the transparency and fluidity of the paint when working on watercolour paintings. I ventured into working with acrylics over the last few years and now understand the vibrancy and life that acrylic paint can bring to the canvas. As I love poetry as an art form as well, I quite often will write a poem to put on the back of my finished acrylic paintings.

I have attended many years of studio classes in Calgary with several exceptionally talented instructors and other artists who have each provided me with their unique blend of guidance and motivation. I am incredibly grateful for the knowledge they have shared with me.

I look forward to learning more about painting and hope that my contributions to art may bring pleasure to others.

“Precision has always been a fascination. My works are created entirely from memory, which is unfortunate, because my memory of what a human body looks like is apparently a circle on top with five lines coming out of it.

Through my process I develop original interpretations of the world around me. By simplifying and reducing, I can showcase the essential truth of any subject — that at its core, everything can be expressed in five lines or fewer. My loop-da-loops demonstrate a mastery of the continuous curve. My snowflakes contain multitudes.

So, as you can no doubt tell, I am an artist. Maybe? Probably... Yes, probably.”
