As a teenager, Susan was introduced to art by visiting galleries and volunteering to paint murals on buildings in Winnipeg’s Osborne Street Community improvement initiative. These experiences began a life long passion for art. It was as though a seed had been planted.

Life happened and her creative expression was outwardly focused on teaching, children, family, and life. Now, in her retirement years, using the mediums of watercolour, graphite, pastel and acrylic, she spends time tending to that seed.

Though self-taught she has been fortunate to access, through workshops and courses, the teachings of some very accomplished artists. The seed has taken root and is thriving and growing into a life as an ARTIST.

The journey is exciting, challenging and ever evolving and she would not trade it for anything.

Susan Fogg

In my teens I felt something stir inside me when I first encountered the painting on Joni Mitchel’s album cover, ‘Ladies of the Canyon’, depicting a ‘day in the life’. A watercolour that so simply yet profoundly expressed her inner identity. My paintings are an expression of my inner soul, sometimes loud and proud and sometimes quiet and contemplative. Either way they are an expression of my world.
